August quotes

Book quotes -
Lola and the boy next door
Remember that  that I  made  you  the  elevator  ?   he  suddenly   asks  I  gave  him  a faint  smile   .  How   could  I  forget ?   that  was  the   day I had  my first kiss  .  My smile   fades  .  I'm  better now .  he  sets   the  apple  beside  me .  At  kissing  just  so you  .  Page  135

I step  back into  him , my nose  against his  . Guess  what  ?  I  hiss  back  .  I am  a  liar .  I do  like  cricket  bell.  You're  right   . I've been  hanging out  with him  this whole time ! And he's  been in my  bedroom   , and I've been in his . And  I want  him  ,  Max  I want  him .  He's  shacking  with  rage  . Get .   out  .  I  grab my  purse   and  throw  open  his  front  door  .  I never   want to see you again  . His  voice is deathly  low  . You are  nothing to me  . Do you understand   Yes I say  . Thank you for making things so clear.  Page  254

Anna  Prods  St.  clair's  shoulder  . Come on . weren't you going to show me that thing ? what thing  ?  she stares at him . he  stares  back. She cocks   her head toward  cricket and me.  ah  , yes  St. clair stands that thing. they  rush out  . The door shuts, and  St. Clair shouts Lola  cricket  wants to show  you his thing too-oo!  page 295

If I stay

“If you stay, I'll do whatever you want. I'll quit the band, go with you to New York. But if you need me to go away, I'll do that, too. I was talking to Liz and she said maybe coming back to your old life would be too painful, that maybe it'd be easier for you to erase us. And that would suck, but I'd do it. I can lose you like that if I don't lose you today. I'll let you go. If you stay.”

“How am I supposed to decide this? How can I possibly stay without mom and dad? How can I leave without Teddy? Or Adam? This is too much. I don’t even understand how it all works, why I’m here in the state that I’m in or how to get out of it if I wanted to. If I were to say, I want to wake up, would I wake up right now? I’ve already tried snapping my heels to find Teddy and tried to beam myself to Hawaii, and that didn’t work. This seems a whole lot more complicated.
But in spite of that, I believe it’s true. I hear the nurse’s words again. I am running the show. Everyone’s waiting on me.
I decide. I know this now.
And this terrifies me more than anything else that has happened today.”

Book review this one summer by Mariko Tamaki

This One SummerThis One Summer by Mariko Tamaki
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

August 26-26

Summary -Every summer, Rose goes with her mom and dad to a lake house in Awago Beach. It's their getaway, their refuge. Rosie's friend Windy is always there, too, like the little sister she never had. But this summer is different. Rose's mom and dad won't stop fighting, and when Rose and Windy seek a distraction from the drama, they find themselves with a whole new set of problems. It's a summer of secrets and sorrow and growing up, and it's a good thing Rose and Windy have each other.

In This One Summer two stellar creators redefine the teen graphic novel. Cousins Mariko and Jillian Tamaki, the team behind Skim, have collaborated on this gorgeous, heartbreaking, and ultimately hopeful story about a girl on the cusp of her teen age—a story of renewal and revelation.

Review this graphic novel was really good the story could of used something sometimes it would get boring or it wouldn't really make sence but i did like it rose and her family always go to there beach house every summer and rose always hangs out with windy they rent horror movies go to the beach rose's parents are fighting they wanted another kid but her mom miscarried and never told Rose . there is this guy that works at the store name dunce and he knocked this girl up but she maybe cheating on him oh and she was drinking and almost drowned and rose mom helped her I like this graphic novel .

Book review - if I stay by gale Forman

If I Stay (If I Stay, #1)If I Stay by Gayle Forman

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

August 13-23

Summary -The critically acclaimed, bestselling novel from Gayle Forman, author of Where She Went, Just One Day, and the forthcoming Just One Year.

On a day that started like any other, Mia had everything: a loving family, a gorgeous, admiring boyfriend, and a bright future full of music and full of choices. In an instant, almost all of that is taken from her. Caught between life and death, between a happy past and an unknowable future, Mia spends one critical day contemplating the only decision she has left. It is the most important decision she'll ever make.

Simultaneously tragic and hopeful, this is a romantic, riveting, and ultimately uplifting story about memory, music, living, dying, loving.

Review - I wanted to read If i stay before the movie came out it has officially came out I haven't seen it yet though I'm seeing it today I can't wait . If I stay is about Mia she is a cello player and on her way to being at juliard in new york and leaving her rocker boyfriend Adam one day Mia and her family are driving and it's snowing like really bad and they get into a car crash her entire family dies but she's kind of floating over her body like she is a ghost but not really what I loved about this book was the writing it was beautifully written this book is taken place in 24 hours so instead of chapters there is time . I love the Flashbacks like Adam and Mia's first date it was so cute Adam and Mia share the love of music and I love that . Mia's family are kind of rockers to Mia's dad was in a band with there family friend Henry and I love Henry's wife Willow she's awesome she's a nurse and she totally takes charge in getting Adam into see Mia . Mia fallows her body back to the hospital and through this she goes through surgery and sapose to be fine if she can breathe on her own . Now when Adam hears about Mia he has to get in to see her and Kim and Adam almost get arrested if it weren't for Willow , Adam and Kim get this rocker girl to come and cause a ruckus and that mean nurse gets them out and then Willow steps in and Adam talks to Mia and then he leaves he says he's going to come back . Kim talks to Mia and tells her even though her family has died she still has a family which was sweet and I started crying I love there friendship . Adam comes back and he tells her he wants her to stay and if she needed him to go he would then she's back she squeezes his hand and she's back I loved this book so much I cried I swooned at the romance it was very good .

“If I stay. If I live. It’s up to me.
All this business about medically induced comas is just doctor talk. It’s not up to the doctors. It’s not up to the absentee angels. It’s not even up to God who, if He exists, is nowhere around right now. It’s up to me.”

“But the you who you are tonight is the same you I was in love with yesterday, the same you I’ll be in love with tomorrow.”

I'm not sure this is a world I belong in anymore. I'm not sure that I want to wake up.

Book review - Lola and the boy next door by Stephaine Perkins

Lola and the Boy Next Door (Anna and the French Kiss, #2)Lola and the Boy Next Door by Stephanie Perkins
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

read  August  18- 20

Summary  -Budding designer Lola Nolan doesn’t believe in fashion...she believes in costume. The more expressive the outfit--more sparkly, more fun, more wild--the better. But even though Lola’s style is outrageous, she’s a devoted daughter and friend with some big plans for the future. And everything is pretty perfect (right down to her hot rocker boyfriend) until the dreaded Bell twins, Calliope and Cricket, return to the neighborhood.

When Cricket--a gifted inventor--steps out from his twin sister’s shadow and back into Lola’s life, she must finally reconcile a lifetime of feelings for the boy next door.

Review -    Meet  Lola  Nolan   she  believe  is  costume   she loves  dressing up  as  someone  different  every  day  .  Lola 's  Parents don't like   Lola's  boyfriend  Max   he's  in a  band  and he's  older  than her   but  it  all fine at sunday brunch when  she  notices  people moving  next door and hopes that it  isn't the bell twins    Cricket  Bell  broke  Lola's  heart   two years  ago  .  I loved this book so much   I loved Cricket  he is my new  book  boyfriend   .  Lola   works  at the movie theater  with  Anna and St. clair  , St.  clair  doesn't really  work  there at first  but he does  eventually   I loved that  they were in the book  .   Cricket  Bell  enters   Lola's life again    and  he   tells her  he's in love with  her   and  she wanted to  show him  that  she  doesn't care  but she  hurts him leads him  on does  things  she isn't  proud of  and    stays  with a  guy  who is  a jerk  and doesn't  approve of her  friendship with  Cricket   I didn't like  max at all first I thought  he was sweet  then he showed his true  colors  he's rude  and  he doesn't like  her best friend  Lindsey  . I was cheering on there realisonship  though this  book I was like Lola  I know you want to be  with  Cricket everyone does .  Then  Lola's  birth  mom has to stay with them  for awhile and she's mad  .  I loved that Cricket  and Lola  talked through there windows  all the time  it was cute   .  When St. Clair told  Lola that he's been  in  a similar  situation   so  Lola  breaks  up with max  but she doesn't want to be  with Cricket until she 's fine again like what    . Lola  fixes   colipe  outfit  and  they talk     and when it comes to the dance  Cricket shows up   and they kiss finally   I love them  together there so  cute  . I loved this  as much as anna  awesome  book .

Favorite  quotes  -  Lola, you were the only person  I wanted  there that night. I was crazy about you, but I didn't know what to do. It was paralzing . There were so many times when I wanted to take your hand , but.... I couldn't . That one small move felt impossible . Now I'm staring at my hands , too . I  would have let you take it . I know his voice cracks. Page 133

Page  135

waiting wednesday

it's an oppressively hot and sticky morning in June when Sterling and her brother, Phin, have an argument that compels him to run into the town swamp -- the one that strikes fear in all the residents of Sticks, Louisiana. Phin doesn't return. Instead, a girl named Lenora May climbs out, and now Sterling is the only person in Sticks who remembers her brother ever existed.

Sterling needs to figure out what the swamp's done with her beloved brother and how Lenora May is connected to his disappearance -- and loner boy Heath Durham might be the only one who can help her.

This debut novel is full of atmosphere, twists and turns, and a swoon-worthy romance.

 this book looks awesome

Book review - Delirium by Lauren oliver

Delirium (Delirium, #1)Delirium by Lauren Oliver

July 6- August 8

Summary -Ninety-five days, and then I'll be safe. I wonder whether the procedure will hurt. I want to get it over with. It's hard to be patient. Favorite quotes
“Hearts are fragile things. That's why you have to be so careful.”

“I run for I don't know how long. Hours, maybe, or days. Alex told me to run. So I run. You have to understand. I am no one special. I am just a single girl. I am five feet two inches tall and I am in-between in every way. But I have a secret. You can build walls all the way to the sky and I will find a way to fly above them. You can try to pin me down with a hundred thousand arms, but I will find a way to resist. And there are many of us out there, more than you think. People who refuse to stop believing. People who refuse to come to earth. People who love in a world without walls, people who love into hate, into refusal, against hope, and without fear. I love you. Remember. They cannot take it.”

Waiting Wednesday

This emotional, hilarious, devastating, and ultimately triumphant YA debut, based on actual events, recounts one girl’s rejection of her high school’s hierarchy—and her discovery of her true self in the face of tragedy.

Fall’s buzzed-about, in-house favorite. Outside, Anika Dragomir is all lip gloss and blond hair—the third most popular girl in school. Inside, she’s a freak: a mix of dark thoughts, diabolical plots, and, if local chatter is to be believed, vampire DNA (after all, her father is Romanian). But she keeps it under wraps to maintain her social position. One step out of line and Becky Vilhauer, first most popular girl in school, will make her life hell. So when former loner Logan McDonough shows up one September hotter, smarter, and more mysterious than ever, Anika knows she can’t get involved. It would be insane to throw away her social safety for a nerd. So what if that nerd is now a black-leather-jacket-wearing dreamboat, and his loner status is clearly the result of his troubled home life? Who cares if the right girl could help him with all that, maybe even save him from it? Who needs him when Jared Kline, the bad boy every girl dreams of, is asking her on dates? Who?

Anatomy of a Misfit is Mean Girls meets The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and Anika’s hilariously deadpan delivery will appeal to readers for its honesty and depth. The so-sad-it’s-funny high school setting will pull readers in, but when the story’s dark foreboding gradually takes over, the devastating penultimate tragedy hits like a punch to the gut. Readers will ride the highs and lows alongside funny, flawed Anika—from laughter to tears, and everything in between.
